Phil LeadbetterBluegrass Music's favorite uncle, Dobro artist Uncle Phil Leadbetter has announced that after his most recent PET scan and biopsy that his cancer has returned once again. Twice before he has been deemed "Cancer Free" however, the persistent disease keeps returning. Each return also appears more stubborn the one before. He has been battling the disease on and off now for over four years.

Phil LeadbetterAfter being diagnosed with Stage III Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2011, Phil Leadbetter feared that his 37-year career as a touring and performing musician may be over and yet, recognized the immense blessing of having enjoyed that career. The 2005 IBMA Dobro Player of the Year winner sat down and made a “bucket list” of friends and idols in the music business with whom he’d always wanted to record, or simply wanted to play with once again … if his health would ever allow a return to playing the music he loved.

Pinecastle Records Founder Tom Riggs has Died

Thomas W. RiggsThe staff at Pinecastle Records are saddened to announce that Pinecastle's former owner Thomas W. Riggs died on Saturday August 30th, 2014 at the age of 78. Tom left an indelible mark on the bluegrass music industry and will be remembered not only for the way he conducted business but for the many artists that he encouraged and helped establish. A private service will be held in his hometown of Louisville, KY.

I Draw Slow's Album "White Wave Chapel" Released

I Draw SlowDublin roots band I Draw Slow release their second album July 8th with Pinecastle Records. White Wave Chapel is poised to continue where their last album, Redhills, left off. Redhills was a resounding success with American radio and fans that fell in love with the band during several U.S runs. The band recently toured the States in the spring, including a performance at the prestigious festival Merlefest. They will be back in October for another slate of shows.

New Wildfire Single "Home Again" Now Available

 Home AgainWildfire is returning to the Pinecastle label and is in the midst of recording a brand new album. To celebrate, Pinecastle is excited to announce the release of the first single, "Home Again," from this yet to be titled release. The single is being premiered on Sirius/XM's Bluegrass Junction. The full album will be released in early spring 2015.

Pinecastle Presents The Osborne Brothers and More

NashvilleIt is with great pleasure that Pinecastle can present the final release in a four-part series documenting the career of The Osborne Brothers from Hyden, Kentucky to The Grand Old Opry. After Sonny Osborne’s retirement in late 2007, it looked as though the series that started in 1998 would be incomplete. We think we’re wrapping it up with an extra special treat for you with these seven unreleased tracks recorded during the middle of The Osborne Brothers’ period in Nashville. Each part of this series has documented periods of time and places that were stepping stones that ultimately led to Brothers Bobby and Sonny moving to Nashville and becoming members of the Grand Ole Opry on August 8, 1964. Bobby, who still performs as a member of the Opry to this day, is celebrating his 50th Anniversary as a member during 2014.
