Compass Records Artists Lead Bluegrass Awards Nominations

They Called It MusicNashville, TN -- Nominees for the 2013 International Bluegrass Music Awards were announced at the Loveless Barn in Nashville, where Compass Records bluegrass bands and their respective members received the most nominations out of any label with 22 total nominations. Reigning Entertainers of the Year The Gibson Brothers topped the list with a collective eight nominations, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen received five total nominations and Claire Lynch and her band garnered four. Entertainers of the Year at the Minnesota Bluegrass Festival, August 8-11

The Gibson BrothersEl Rancho Mañana, Minnesota - The Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Festival has been nominated three times as Event of the Year by the IBMA in Nashville. It is a four day music and camping festival that includes thirty hours of Mainstage concerts; plus daytime instrument collaborations and nightly dances in The Showcase Tent; music, contests, crafts, and games in The Family Area; twenty hands-on bluegrass music workshops in the Workshop Area; new groups on the Young Talent Stage; and dozens of food and merchant booths in the Marketplace Area.

They Called it MusicNashville, TN -- Just months after winning the most coveted honor in bluegrass last fall – the prestigious International Bluegrass Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year award – The Gibson Brothers are preparing to release their new album They Called It Music on March 26th. On their latest effort, the brothers Eric and Leigh dig deeper into duet harmony than they ever have before. Longtime bandmates Mike Barber (bass), Clayton Campbell (fiddle) and Joe Walsh (mandolin) join in on a set of songs that feature some of the brothers' best originals coupled with a varied collection of creative covers of songs by Loretta Lynn, the Delmore Brothers, Joe Newberry and Shawn Camp.

Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival is Special for Joe Mullins

This year's fall festival will take on a special meaning for Joe Mullins. Janet Davis Acoustic Music and the Radio Ramblers will be working together at the festival to benefit breast cancer support. Joe's Mom, Prudence Mullins, passed away just over a week ago after battling breast cancer and Janet Davis Acoustic Music has donated a Martin guitar to be given away in an effort to raise funds for breast cancer research in her memory. Proceeds will benefit the Ohio area Breast Cancer fund. "I am certainly grateful for all the prayers and support from the Bluegrass community, and the help from our supply sponsor, Janet Davis Acoustic Music will have lasting benefits", stated Joe.
