The festival originated from the desire to create a family-friendly music festival celebrating the rich legacy of McCoury music while creating a forum for world-class musical collaborations and to showcase fresh new talent with a down-home feeling. Produced in association with High Sierra Music, the 7th Annual DelFest will again offer a quality festival experience stamped with the unique McCoury touch. Personally chosen by Del, the Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland, MD served as the perfect location for DelFest--nestled along the Potomac River in the scenic Appalachian Mountains, the Fairgrounds are convenient to four major airports and easily reached by rail or road.

Chris Austin Songwriters Judges and WinnersWilkesboro, NC -- MerleFest 2014 congratulates the winners of the 22nd Annual Chris Austin Songwriting Contest. Writers of the following twelve songs were selected from 567 entries and competed on the Austin Stage at MerleFest on Friday, April 25. MerleFest performer Keller Williams served as emcee for the contest. Distinguished songwriters Darrell Scott, Charles Humphrey III (Steep Canyon Rangers) and Niall Toner served as this year’s onsite judges that determine this year’s winners.

Georgia State Bluegrass Championships/Georgia Marble FestivalThe Georgia Marble Festival is proud to be the Home of the Georgia State Bluegrass Competition. A variety of competitions including Fiddle, Flat-Pickin' Guitar, Bluegrass Banjo, Mandolin and a Bluegrass Band Competition. The competitions will take place on Saturday and Sunday of the Georgia Marble Festival. A $15 fee per competition entry, and a fee of $10 per person for Band Entries. Cash prizes for all categories, and $1000 winner take all cash prize for the Bluegrass Band competition.

The two-day 42nd annual Grand Master Fiddler Championship is the nation’s championship event held at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee.

FreshGrass Award Finalists Compete for $10,000 in Prizes

The finalists compete for $10,000 cash prizes as well as a Nashville recording session in Compass Records studios with mentoring from FreshGrass performer Alison Brown. Bands were selected by a panel of industry insiders and performers, and bands will perform for that same jury during FreshGrass bluegrass music festival, held September 20-22 at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Mass.

Old Fiddlers' ConventionThe 78th Annual Old Fiddlers' Convention takes place in Galax, Virginia this weekend, August 5-10, 2013. Before the second weekend in August each year, lovers of country, bluegrass, old-time and mountain music leave their homes in time to be in Galax, VA for the Annual Old Fiddler's Convention. For some this means hundreds of miles of travel, while for others it will be a short trip from their nearby homes. Most of these people don't play music, and come just for the listening and renewing old acquaintances.
