Troublesome Hollow with Tim White at Carter Fold March 19

Troublesome HollowHiltons, VA -- Saturday, March 19th, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass music by Troublesome Hollow with Tim White. Troublesome Hollow was originally formed in Hickory Tree, Tennessee, in the mid 1970s. The band recorded five projects between 1979 and 1989. Through most of these years, the band centered on the brother duo of Donnie and Gary Ollis and banjo picker Tim White. The early years of the band also included the dynamic singing of the late Ron Greene and the bass playing of Rick Moore.

‘Song of the Mountains’ Viewing Party with Kaitlyn Baker & Reagan Boggs

Reagan Boggs, Tim White, Kaitlyn BakerWaynesville, NC -- Country singers Kaitlyn Baker and Reagan Boggs will mingle with fans to raise money for a worthy cause in Waynesville, North Carolina, on Sunday, November 22. Baker and Boggs, both of whom are originally from Pound, Virginia, taped the nationally syndicated public television concert series “Song of the Mountains” last year. Their episode will premiere on the UNC-TV network throughout North Carolina on Sunday, November 22, at 6:00 p.m. It will air on PBS affiliates nationwide early in 2016.

Song of the Mountains Sale Agreement Signed

Song of the MountainsMarion, VA 17 August 2015 – On Friday, August 14, principals of The Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia and Appalachian Music Heritage Foundation (AMH), a Marion-based non-profit corporation signed agreements officially transferring ownership of Song of the Mountains from The Lincoln to AMH. Under the agreement, AMH will rent The Lincoln Theatre for the Song of the Mountains monthly stage show and television production.

Tim White CD Release Party at ACMA Pickin Porch Aug 3rd

King of the Left-Hand LaneBristol, TN/VA -- The ACMA Pickin Porch will be the site of a CD release party on Monday, August 3rd. Tim White invites everyone to attend his release of the Heartland Recording Label's King of the Left-Hand Lane CD. The recording was produced in Bristol, TN at Ray Dearstone's Heartland Recording Studios and includes Tim's original song which is the title cut "King of the Left-Hand Lane". There are eighteen cuts in all on the project which includes several bluegrass standards as well as four Tim White originals.

Appalachian Music Heritage Foundation Takes Reins of Song of the Mountains

Song of the MountainsAfter months of announcements, protests and business wrangling, it was announced last week that Tim White will return to Song of the Mountains. In addition, the new Appalachian Music Heritage Foundation will take over the Song of the Mountains concert series. The agreement and contract will split the Song of the Mountains program from the Lincoln Theatre and the rights will change hands to the new foundation. As contract and legal agreements come to a close, the Lincoln Theatre is expected to receive a $50,000 donation from the Appalachian Music Heritage Foundation as part of the negotiations. The Appalachian Music Heritage Foundation was created as a non-profit by Joe Ellis, Sam Russell and Ed Stringer, all Marion businessmen who were instrumental in the founding of Song of Mountains program.

Just to let you know briefly what has happened since the Lincoln Theatre board's "Re-organization committee" released me from my contract 3 1/2 years early...the director of the Lincoln Theatre stands pretty much all alone now.

Horse Archer Productions Leaving Song of the Mountains

Tim WhiteMarion, VA. After the recent dismissal of host, Tim White, Horse Archer expresses their disapproval through bold decision. Horse Archer Productions has announced that unless Tim White returns as host, it will fulfill its obligations with the Lincoln Theater through its contract period but will not return to Song of the Mountains in 2016.

The program will be put on a short hiatus while the theatre completes a rebranding process by developing more innovative programming, creating new partnerships and securing additional financial support, as it enters its second decade on the air.

“Song of the Mountains” Says Goodbye to Host Tim White

Tim WhiteBluegrass musician and broadcast personality Tim White has lost his job as host of the nationally syndicated public television concert series “Song of the Mountains.” White said the Lincoln Theatre, which produces the program in Marion, Virginia, has canceled his contract, because of a “personality conflict” with the theatre’s new director. White said he is puzzled by the move, because he has continued to work hard to maintain the show’s high standards of quality.

Tim White, The VW Boys and Friends at Carter Fold Saturday

The VW BoysSaturday, March 21st, 2015, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass music by the Tim White and the VW Boys and Friends. Tim White is the banjo picker, guitar picker, and baritone singer for the VW Boys. He knew Dave Vaught for several years prior to both of these gentlemen forming the VW Boys band which features bluegrass music, magic, and comedy in one self-contained variety show. Fat Albert Blackburn is the third leg of the VW Boys and plays upright bass and sings lead. Dave Vaught is an excellent entertainer and magician who brings his talents to the group as well as playing guitar and singing lead and harmony parts. The VW Boys will provide plenty of dance music for the cloggers and flatfoot dancers at the Fold by having Kevin Jackson accompany them on fiddle. Glen Harlow will also sit in as the group’s mandolin player.

Special Janette Carter Memorial Gospel Concert Nov 16th

The VW BoysSunday, November 16th, 2014, at 2:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a special gospel concert by Tim White and the VW Boys & Adam McPeak and Mountain Thunder. 2014 marks the seventh annual gospel event in honor of Janette Carter. This year’s concert will also pay tribute to the late Larry McPeak who passed away earlier this year. Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, children ages 6 to 11 $3, under age 6 free. Tickets will be available only at the door on the day of the concert. Doors will open at 1:00 p.m.

Song of the Mountains Fundraising Concert June 21, 2014

Song of the MountainsMarion, VA- Song of the Mountains will present their summer fundraising concert at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 2:00 pm. The fundraising concert will be presented this year as a 2:00 pm matinee to allow ticket buyers and fans of the concert series to attend the concert early in the day and enjoy the restaurants and stores in Downtown Marion after the concert.

Acoustic Cruise to Benefit ACMA

Acoustic Cruise 2014Bristol, TN/VA -- The Acoustic Cruise will be filled with bluegrass, comedy and gospel music and will depart from Charleston, South Carolina in November 5th on Carnival Cruise Lines. This is a five day cruise traveling to the Bahamas and will be hosted by Song of the Mountains Host Tim White and his band the VW Boys. White also hosts the syndicated radio show the Tim White Bluegrass Show each week as well. “We will have lots of fun and have a tremendous lineup of artists to provide great music and comedy”, says White.
