Alison Krauss Unable to Perform at Wide Open Bluegrass Festival

Alison KraussNashville, TN -- Performer Alison Krauss will be unable to perform, as previously announced, as part of the “epic collaboration” set planned for Friday, September 27 during IBMA’s Wide Open Bluegrass Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, at Red Hat Amphitheater. As per the artist’s representative: “Alison Krauss was recently diagnosed with a vocal condition called dysphonia. Alison has been advised to have vocal rest, and therefore will not be performing at Wide Open Bluegrass next weekend. We anticipate a smooth, quick recovery given proper treatment and adequate rest.”

Known as the Blue Grass Boys, Monroe and Scruggs, alongside singer/guitarist Lester Flatt, fiddler Chubby Wise and bassist Howard Watts, forged new ground, not only creating an entirely unique genre of American music, but forever changing the course of American rock-and-roll with one of their most famous songs, “Blue Moon of Kentucky” - an early hit for an up-and-coming young musician named Elvis Presley.

Bluegrass Album Band to Appear for First Time in 23 Years at Bluegrass First Class

Bluegrass Album BandOn February 15-17, 2013 in the Grand Ballroom at the Crowne Plaza Resort, 1 Resort Dr., Asheville, NC, Milton Harkey will present the 18th annual Bluegrass First Class bluegrass music festival. The Sunday Morning Gospel Show is free and open to all attendees. On Saturday, February 16, 2013 Harkey will present a special reunion of one of the greatest bands in the history of bluegrass music: The Bluegrass Album Band. Besides a collection of bands and musicians as diverse and exciting as you'll find anywhere playing on multiple stages inside and out, they will have pop-up performances in the galleries and under the trees, film screenings, banjo workshops, instrument building for kids, great food and drink (moonshine slushies, anyone?), and so much more. They will even have a locally brewed FreshGrass IPA from Greenfield's The People's Pint, with local wet hops and a zesty, crisp flavor.
