BCMA Presents Vince Gill at Mountain Stage

/BCMA/ Bristol VA/TN -- The Birthplace of Country Music Alliance brings Mountain Stage with Larry Groce back to Bristol's Paramount Center for the Arts Sunday, August 21st at 7pm for what is sure to be a quickly sold-out event. Country Music Hall of Fame inductee and 20-time Grammy winner Vince Gill will be featured in this edition of Mountain Stage in Bristol.

Town Mountain Keeping Busy with New Label and Album

 Steady OperatorSince the May 10th release date of Steady Operator Town Mountain has been busy, and it's about to get even more hectic for the quintet from Asheville, NC. The band is heading west for a string of 19 concert dates this July beginning with The Station Inn tonight before moving on to Colorado, Oregon, Montana etc. They'll be back in the Southeast in August. Their full tour schedule can be found here (under "Calendar"). If they'll be in your neck of the woods anytime soon you owe it to yourself to go out and see their live show. 2011 Clatskanie Bluegrass Festival, Clatskanie, Oregon August 5th - 7th

Well, this year it's happening again and we would like to invite you join us at the 15th annual Clatskanie Bluegrass Festival. A tradition in the Northwest, the Clatskanie Bluegrass Festival is founded, and grounded, on traditional bluegrass content.

Connie Smith Selected as CMHoF 2011 Artist-in-Residence

Connie SmithNashville, TN -- Legendary vocalist Connie Smith will bring her incomparable voice, her catalog of hits and some of her favorite collaborators when she takes the Ford Theater stage as the Country Music Hall of Fame (CMHoF) and Museum's 2011 Artist-in-Residence. Smith will serve as host and curator for the intimate evening performances, which are slated for August 22, August 29 and September 12 at 7:00 p.m.

Island in the Mountains Fest on Monday, August 1st

Gates open at 10:00 am and the music starts at Noon featuring bluegrass/acoustic group, The Tony Rice Unit, The New Riders of the Purple Sage with special guest Donna Jean Godchaux, Bobby Hicks, Phuncle Sam, Jamie Thomas, Joe Penland, The Harris Brothers, El Hub, Sarah Tucker and many more. King of Newgrass at Celebrity Showroom July 9th

Sam BushKnown as the King of Newgrass, Sam Bush, has helped to expand the horizons of bluegrass music. He's the co-founder of the genre-bending “New Grass Revival” which infused bluegrass with jazz, rock, blues, funk and other styles. Bush is an in-demand musician who has played with everyone from Emmylou Harris and Bela Fleck to Charlie Haden, Lyle Lovett and Garth Brooks. "In the acoustic world, I've been pretty lucky to play with almost every one of my heroes. I've gotten to play with Bill Monroe, Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, I've been to the mountain," says Bush with a smile.

Josh Slone and CoalTown - Best Classic Bluegrass Album of the Year

Josh Slone and CoalTownBob Everhart, President of The Rural Roots Music Commission announced that Josh Slone & CoalTown have been selected to receive the Best Classic Bluegrass Album of the Year award for their self-titled new album released earlier this year on Rural Rhythm Records. This honor will be presented to Josh on Wednesday, August 31, at 11:30am at the 36th Annual Oldtime Country Bluegrass Festival held at The Plymouth County Fairgrounds in LeMars, Iowa.

The Fold Brings Out The Dry Hill Draggers July 23rd

Dry Hill DraggersThe Dry Hill Draggers started out in 1981. From Franklin County, Virginia, the group included Jimmy Boyd on banjo and his brother, Billy. Although several of the founding members are now gone, the group has continued in the mountain tradition of a multi-generational, traditional, old time string band. Saturday, July 23rd, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of old time music by the Dry Hill Draggers. Admission to the concert is $7 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11, under age 6 free.

Steve Martin and Steep Canyon Rangers Continue Tour

Rare Bird AlertBurlington, MA - Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers continue their "Evening of Bluegrass and Comedy" tour in support of their #1 bluegrass release Rare Bird Alert. On July 4th, they will be performing on A Capitol Fourth, the live PBS broadcast of America's favorite Independence Day tradition. Inspired by that upcoming performance and from facts learned from David Hackett Fischers' book, "Paul Revere's Ride," Steve wrote and recorded a new single, "Me And Paul Revere." Martin crafted a wonderful story about this historical ride from the perspective of Revere's horse.
