Instructor Roland White will offer tips and techniques to improve students fiddle playing and choose tunes from American Oldtime, Bluegrass & Celtic traditions to teach at each class.

Roland White is Two Time Oregon State Senior Fiddling Champion. He has conducted classes for the OOTFA & teaches and performs in Central Oregon

"Often times learning fiddle becomes very generalized and avid fiddlers forge ahead with little or no techniques to improve the overall sound of the music" remarked instructor Roland White. Further he states, "In this class Fiddlers will take home new techniques and fresh tunes to expand and improve the quality of their practice and playing".

Roland White lives in Central Oregon where he performs and teaches fiddle and mandolin at his home studio and at Cascade School of Music, with classes and private lessons.

White is a two time Oregon State Senior Fiddling Champion. In 2011 he placed 4th at the NW Regional Fiddle Contest in Spokane, WA and 9th at the National Fiddle Contest in Weiser, Idaho. He promotes live fiddle & folk music in Central Oregon on his Fiddlplay website. He also offers Fiddle music for Weddings, Parties, community events and lessons.

Roland White first experienced fiddle music in 1976, performed by the Oregon Oldtime Fiddlers at a small country grange hall. He was instantly captivated by the sound of Traditional Fiddle Music. Since that time Roland has studied and learned hundreds of fiddle tunes and styles that include Irish, Celtic, American and other ethnic fiddle traditions. Over the years he has attended numerous fiddle workshops taught by such masters of fiddling as Kevin Burke, Byron Berline, Carol Anne Wheeler, Mark Savoy, Frank Ferrell, Alan Jabour, Benny Thomasson and attended a Masters Class with world renown fiddler and recording artist, Mark O' Conner. Roland is the current Oregon State Senior Fiddle Champion and placed 10th in the Nation of the Senior Division in the National Fiddle Contest this past June in Weiser Idaho.
