2012 Americana Board of Directors Announced

Americana Music AssociationNashville, TN -- The Americana Music Association announced nine incoming directors as a result of the annual elections for their Board of Directors. These individuals will each serve a two-year term, from 2012-2013. The results reflect the rising influence and characteristics of the Americana genre itself; Independent, entrepreneurial and progressive. The Americana community has been at the forefront of the industry landscape shift buoyed by constant touring and grassroots fan development. Additionally, the emphasis of promoting the community to a broader audience beyond traditional industry methods has the Americana Music Association poised for more profound breakthroughs, as the genre segues into a new year boasting an Americana Grammy award category and a genre definition in Merriam Webster's dictionary.

Re-elected for new terms are Ashley Capps of AC Entertainment in the Booking Category, Voice of America's Joan Kornblith for Radio, Bug Music's John Allen for Publishing and Artists' Rodney Crowell and Buddy Miller. New board members include Austin City Limits Executive Producer Terry Lickona and Rounder Records Brad Paul in the At Large Category, Attorney Wayne Halper in the Business/Financial field and Crash Avenue's Emilee Warner for New Media.

The incoming directors join board members returning in 2012 for the second of two- year terms. Those board members are: Artist Mary Gauthier, Tim McFadden, Sylvia Giannitrapani, SESAC's Tim Fink, Amanda Hale-Ornelas from New West Records, Al Moss of Al Moss Promotions, Music Fog's Jessie Scott, Ramseur Records' Holly Lowman, Bob Benckert from the Alternate Root and Todd Ohlhauser of the Mercy Lounge/Cannery Ballroom.

Now in its 12th year, the Americana Music festival and Conference presented by Nissan took place October 12-15, 2011. The event brings together fans and music industry executives alike offering four days of celebration through seminars, panels and networking opportunities by day and raw, battery-recharging showcases each evening. The Honors and Awards Show is the featured performance of the festivities taking place at the historic Ryman Auditorium.

The Americana Music Association is a professional trade organization whose mission is to provide a forum for the advocacy of Americana music and to promote public awareness of the genre to support the creative and economic viability of professionals in this field.
