Sierra Hull Joins Alison Krauss and Others at White House Concert Tonight

Sierra HullBurlington, MA -- 20-year old mandolin virtuoso and Rounder recording artist Sierra Hull will be performing with label mates Alison Krauss and Dan Tyminski as part of Country Music: In Performance at the White House – a PBS music special in the East Room of the White House. President and Mrs. Obama will host the event tonight, November 21, in celebration of Country music. Other performers include Lauren Alaina, The Band Perry, Dierks Bentley, Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett, Darius Rucker and James Taylor.

The sixty-minute television special, part of the Emmy Award-nominated PBS In Performance at the White House series, will premiere Wednesday, November 23 at 8 PM ET on PBS stations nationwide (check local listings). The concert will also stream live tonight at 7 PM (EST) at www.whitehouse.gov/live.

One of the most respected artists in the new school of bluegrass, Hull has received 5 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) nominations in the past 3 years and is the first bluegrass musician to receive Berklee College of Music’s prestigious Presidential Scholarship. In March she released her 3rd album, Daybreak, on Rounder Records on which she penned 7 of the 12 songs.

The White House will be streaming their country music performaqnce on WhiteHouse.gov as part of First Lady Michelle Obama's music series "Country Music: In Performance at the White House". The event will include the hosting of 120 students for a workshop led by Grammy Museum's executive director, Robart Santelli, on the history of country music. This will be the seventh program hosted by the President and First Lady.

The program's lineup includes an impressive lineup consisting of Alison Krauss, The BandPerry, Lauren Alaina, Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett, Mickey, Darius Rucker, James Taylor and Sierra Hull. PBS will present the program at 8 PM Wednesday however,the program will take place Monday and the White House will be streaming it from their website Monday evening at 7 PM ET.

The White House has had a music program for many years that consists of both the workshop and the following performances. Monday, November 21, the President and First Lady have invited a variety of artists to participate in the "The History of Country Music: From Barn Dances to Pop Charts" program.

The series began in 2009 and the various performances have included artists Paul McCarnety, Stevie Wonder and others. The performances are presented to the White House participants and guests.
