East Tennessee SunriseNashville, TN -- Rural Rhythm Records is pleased to announce the release of East Tennessee Sunrise, by veteran banjoist Stuart Wyrick on August 5th. Wyrick is no stranger to Bluegrass music. He is currently a member of Flashback, the reunion band including top Bluegrass musicians who worked with J.D. Crowe & The New South in the mid-1990s, and a former member of the Dale Ann Bradley Band. Prior to that he was a member of the popular Bluegrass group Brand New Strings who recorded two albums for Rural Rhythm Records and released several successful singles. Stuart was also a founding member of the Bluegrass Gospel group New Road, who recorded six albums, the Better Way Quartet, who recorded four albums, and his first group The Tater Valley Boys.

Produced by Steve Gulley & Wyrick, East Tennessee Sunrise is his first solo album. Wyrick has collected some of his Bluegrass All-Star friends to perform with him on this hand-picked 12 song collection of original and standard compositions. Musicians include; Kenny Smith (guitar), Alan Bibey (mandolin), Tim Crouch (fiddle), Phil Leadbetter (dobro) and Steve Gulley (bass) with special guest vocals by Dale Ann Bradley, Gulley, Keith Garret, Randell Massengill, Vic Graves, Keith Williams and Bryan Turner.

Wyrick is no stranger to Bluegrass music. In 2013 Wyrick started playing banjo in the Dale Ann Bradley Band and stayed busy performing with the award winning artist nationally and internationally and especially enjoyed performing at the Grand Ole Opry. Before joining the Dale Ann Bradley Band, Wyrick was also a member of the popular Bluegrass group Brand New Strings who recorded two albums for Rural Rhythm Records and released several successful singles. The group caught the attention of the label when Brand New Strings won the SPBGMA International Band contest award in 2009. Prior to that, Stuart was a founding member of the Bluegrass Gospel group New Road who recorded six albums and the Better Way Quartet who recorded four albums and his first group The Tater Valley Boys.

Stuart’s love for the banjo materialized in the 70’s when his dad took him to see an Osborne Brothers concert at the WNOX auditorium in Knoxville, Tennessee. Soon after that he began buying bluegrass records with money he saved from working in tobacco fields and hauling hay, developing his banjo style by drawing from the sounds of Flatt and Scruggs, JD Crowe and the Osborne Brothers.

This musically diverse album includes five instrumentals, three of which are written by Wyrick, plus “Stitzenburg Breakdown” written by J.K. Biller, released as a single several months back, and “Freda Florentine” written by Gary Scurggs, originally recorded on the 1970 classic Flatt & Scruggs album “Nashville Airplane”. Featured on the album is “When Someone Wants To Leave” written by Dolly Parton which appeared on her 1974 classic album “Jolene” and performed by multiple IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year Dale Ann Bradley, the Ernest Tubb classic “Walking The Floor” performed by Keith Garret, Jimmy Haley’s composition “You’re The One” made popular by Baucom, Bibey, Graham, Haley back in 1998 performed by Randall Massengill, Keith Williams song “Little Moonshine Johnny” made popular years ago by the group Hard Times performed by Keith Williams, also released as a single several months back, and Wes Golding’s original composition “Hitchhiking To California” performed by Steve Gulley. The album contains two powerful gospel songs that capture the mountain gospel spirit where Wyrick was raised. “The Lord Will Make A Way Somehow” made popular years ago by Carl Story & The Rambling Mountaineers performed by Vic Graves and the Ira & Charlie Louvin standard “Born Again” performed by Gary Kidwell from the popular Bluegrass Gospel group Crosspoint.
