First Round of AmericanaFest Performers Announced

Americana Music AssociationNashville, TN -- The Americana Music Association announced today the first 70 of more than 180 artists slated to perform at the 17th Annual Americana Music Festival & Conference, which runs from September 20-25 in Nashville, TN. The six-day festival will fill the city with legends, newcomers, award winners, and buzz bands, showcasing the breadth of Americana's influence. With over 180 artists and bands scheduled, the event promises to be, as described by MOJO Magazine, the "roots alternative to the GRAMMYs and South by Southwest." A list of the first round of performers can be found below.

Tying in to this announcement, the Americana Music Association has put evening showcase wristbands on sale to the public at the wallet-friendly price of $60. Available online at www.MercyLounge.com and in Nashville at Grimey's New & Preloved Music and The Groove, showcase wristbands allow admission into all showcase venues and some sanctioned parties and events. Festival & Conference registrations (currently $225 for members/$325 for non-members) offer priority admission into all showcase venues, sanctioned parties and events, daytime educational panels, and can be purchased here. At this time, only conference registrants may purchase Honors & Awards show tickets.

Described by Emmylou Harris as "the shining star of Nashville and music everywhere," the Americana Honors & Awards show has been broadcast in the past on AXS TV, PBS, and via SiriusXM Radio, BBC2, WSM, Voice of Americana, and NPR.org. The show has featured many amazing moments in musical history including Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash's last live performance together, as well as show-stopping appearances by Don Henley, Bonnie Raitt, Gregg Allman, The Avett Brothers, Solomon Burke, Rosanne Cash, The Civil Wars, Dr. John with Dan Auerbach, Patty Griffin, Levon Helm, Robert Plant, and many more. The 17th annual Americana Music Festival & Conference will take place September 20-25, 2016. The event brings together fans and music industry professionals alike, offering six days of celebration through seminars, panels and networking opportunities by day and raw, battery recharging showcases each night. The Americana Honors & Awards Show is the featured performance of the festivities, taking place at the historic Ryman Auditorium. T Bone Burnett will be delivering the keynote speech.
