Gettysburg Bluegrass FestivalGettysburg, PA -- The Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival now in it’s 37th year, is widely recognized as one of the world’s premier bluegrass music events. This August marks the 71ST Festival to be held at scenic Granite Hill Camping Resort and will once again showcase four full days of music from the 13th through the 16th. With a combination of legendary performers and variety of hot up-and-comers, over 20 exceptional artists on two stages, the festival lineup is truly world class!

An extensive Workshop Stage schedule is planned for Thursday through Saturday, hosted by Mike and Gay Henderson. The workshop stage presents a wide variety of informative learning sessions presented by favorite performers in an up-close informal setting.

Tickets for the event start at $25 plus tax and can be purchased in advance until August 6th at a reduced price. Single or multi-day tickets are also available at the gate during the festival, which opens daily at 8 a.m. Ample free day parking is available on site and all ticketed attendees may come and go as they please throughout the course of the event. Granite Hill is offers fun children's activities throughout the weekend including swimming, fishing, boating, adventure golf, arcade, pint-Ping-Pong, playgrounds, and the 13th Annual Bluegrass Academy for Kids! The 71ST Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival gets underway on Thursday with a variety of noteworthy bluegrass acts. Among them, The Queen of Bluegrass, Rhonda Vincent and her award winning band, The Rage will kick the festival into high gear early! Since 1991, the legendary Lonesome River Band, have wowed Gettysburg Fans with their hard driving style and return yet again in August 2015. An exciting addition to Gettysburg’s bill is the hot young band Chatham County Line!

Headwaters, band winners from Deer Creek Fiddler's Convention, kick off the show on Friday. Legendary bands Danny Paisley & the Southern Grass, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, and Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out add power to the impressive lineup. While fans will struggle to keep up with the high-energy performances of The Travelin McCourys who will close out Friday’s Main Stage show with a 90 minute set!

A stylistic medley of acts will be presented on Saturday while music plays from 11:00 am to until midnight. Larry Sparks & Lonesome Ramblers and Darin and Brook Aldridge are among the many talented groups to perform on Saturday. Next up will be Dry Branch Fire Squad (DBFS), one of Gettysburg’s true perennial fan favorites, who have played more sets on the Festival’s main stage than any other band. Joe Cornett, who founded the Festival in 1979, said, “Ron Thomason (of DBFS) is unquestionably the consummate bluegrass storyteller of our age and his band has been the most popular traditional bluegrass band we have ever presented.” The Seldom Scene, another recurrent act, has performed at 69 Festivals in Gettysburg, just one single performance fewer than DBFS. This festival will mark their 70th and 71st appearances at Gettysburg respectively. Closing out the Saturday night show is a very exciting reconfiguration of Mountain Heart with the return of Seth Taylor and the addition of Molly Kate Cherryholms and Jeff Partin their performance will be one not to be missed!

Sunday the 16th marks the final day of the Festival. Packed full of bluegrass music from 10AM until 4:30 pm fans will have a second chance to hear their favorites, Dry Branch Fire Squad and The Seldom Scene, play a second set. Junior Sisk and Rambler's Choice and Band of Ruhks featuring Ronnie Bowman, Don Rigsby and Kenny Smith are Sunday highlights, as well as, the Bluegrass Academy for Kids' performance and the Eastman Strings Guitar Giveaway! Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival is truly top notch, fun-filled event for the entire family!
