Blue Highway Honored with Six-Show Series on The Bluegrass Mix

Blue HighwayBristol, TN/VA -- Highly-esteemed bluegrass band Blue Highway will be featured in a six-part series beginning April 22 on "Bluegrass From the Country Store." The Ron Cornett-hosted weekly show airs on Wednesdays from 5:00-8:00 pm ET on

"It's an honor to do this series of interviews with all the members of Blue Highway," said Ron Cornett. "Being able to cover their new individual projects, their newest #1 album The Game, and ending with a special program Twenty Years with Blue Highway will be a highlight of my career."

Fans can look forward to six months of "Blue Highway Wednesdays" featuring music and interviews with Blue Highway and its members on the fourth Wednesday of each month from April to September.

"Ron is very good, nice, and knowledgeable," said Tim Stafford. "We're having a great time doing this series with him! Hope all our friends and fans will tune in!"

The Blue Highway series launches this Wednesday, April 22, with a show featuring the band's dynamic mandolin player and gifted songwriter Shawn Lane. Lane's newest album "Mountain Songs" was released in August 2014, and although it had only been out four short months was named #19 on the Top 20 Albums of 2014 list by critic Daniel Mullins.

Blue Highway have earned 24 collective IBMA Awards, 6 SPBGMA Awards, one Dove Award, and two Grammy nominations. Tim Stafford was recently honored as 2014 IBMA Songwriter of the Year and 2015 SPBGMA Guitar Player of the Year. Rob Ickes reigns as the Most Awarded Instrumentalist in the history of IBMA with 15 Dobro Player of the Year honors, and was nominated for a 2015 Grammy Award for Best Folk Album for his collaborative album "Three Bells" with Jerry Douglas and the late Mike Auldridge.

As momentum builds for the 20-year strong powerhouse band, Blue Highway break into 2015 with Sold Out shows accounting for half of their concerts to date. Their newest album "The Game" recently reigned at #1 for 7 consecutive months on the Bluegrass Unlimited album chart (June-Dec 2014), and was named the #1 Bluegrass Album of the Year by critic Daniel Mullins in his end of the year Top 20 Albums of 2014.
