SPBGMA LogoThe 41st Annual Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) Bluegrass Music Awards took place during the society's 32nd National Convention February 8, 2015 at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. The awards show is always the highlight of the annual event and bluegrass music's biggest starts will be there participating in performances as well as collecting their respective trophies. This year's event took place at the same time as the Grammy awards so some of our favorite artists were at that event.

Entertaining Group of the Year for the 2015 awards was awarded to The Farm Hands who were also awarded Gospel Group of the Year (Traditional). While not a new group, this band has enjoyed a great deal of recognition during the past couple of years and it was a pleasure to see them receive this honor.

Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road were and she and her band captured the Song of the Year for "That’s Kentucky" and Lorraine was awarded Female Vocalist of the Year (Traditional).

Tim Stafford captured the Guitar Performer of the Year with banjo honors going to Ben Greene. Hunter Berry received the fiddle trophy and Tim Graves took home the Dobro award. Bass recognition was awarded to Butch Cooksey and Mandolin to Danhy Roberts.

SPBGMA serves to preserve the traditional spirit and art form of Bluegrass music. The organization also offers a management service for any community desiring to hold a Bluegrass festival and/or to organize and conduct Bluegrass Band competitions. In all SPBGMA sponsored events, instruments must be traditional acoustic instruments, no electrified instruments permitted. SPBGMA encourages professionalism in appearance and showmanship by the performers at SPBGMA events as well as encouraging the support of various Bluegrass publications and associations.
