Balsam Range’s Buddy Melton, Darren Nicholson, Tim Surrett, Marc Pruett, Caleb Smith Nashville, TN -- Balsam Range has announced the incredible lineup for its 4th annual Winter Concert Series. The award-winning band brings five concerts to the historic Colonial Theatre in Canton, NC, in the heart of Haywood County, which is home to the members of Balsam Range. Fans of great acoustic music will have five opportunities to enjoy the award-winning Balsam Range, and several very special musical guests.

“Normally, there isn’t a lot for bluegrass and acoustic artists to do in the winter months,” says Balsam Range’s Tim Surrett. “We started the concert series, in part, to just stay busy in the slower months, but also as something fun for our community and to share the talent of some of the folks we admire.”

Guest artists for each of the five concerts include The Jeff Little Trio with Steve Lewis and Josh Scott; multi-award winner and founding member of the Zac Brown Band, John Driskell Hopkins; Vancouver island Music Award winner, The Sweet Lowdown; premier studio musicians Jeff Collins, David Johnson and Tony Creasman; Country and Bluegrass masters Larry Cordle, Carl Jackson and Jerry Salley. Concerts are held at the Colonial Theatre in Canton on the first Saturday of each month, December 2013 through April 2014. Balsam Range, winner of the 2013 IBMA Album of the Year for PAPERTOWN, also performs at each show.

Guest artists are chosen by a simple vote by the band, according to mandolin player, Darren Nicholson. “We try to get our own musical heroes and influences to the shows,” Nicholson says. “We want our hometown folks to enjoy the artists that we admire and who inspire us. Plus, these are guest artists who don’t get to play in this area very often.”

Past concerts have all been sell-outs with guest artists including Tony Rice, Bobby Hicks, John Wiggins, Carl Jackson, Larry Cordle, Jim Hurst, Shawn Camp and more.

Devoted fans of the band can enjoy the added benefit of dinner with the members of Balsam Range before the concerts. Fans who join Balsam Nation, a membership program with special perks for fans, will get this opportunity for quality time with band members, Tim Surrett, Caleb Smith, Darren Nicholson, Buddy Melton and Marc Pruett. Balsam Nation members are offered exclusive unreleased music, early access to recorded projects, and more. For information on Balsam Nation membership, visit
