Donna UlisseThe Woodsongs Coffeehouse Dalton Chapter will host a Christmas concert on Saturday December 7, 2013 to benefit Providence Ministries featuring bluegrass music artist Donna Ulisse and The Poor Mountain Boys. The 7 pm concert will be held at the historic Dalton Freight Depot at 305 S. Depot Street in downtown Dalton, Georgia. Donna will perform the musical narrative from her album titled "All the way to Bethlehem". It is a dramatic story told in song -- much like such other Bible-based musical productions as Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Woodsongs Dalton Chapter

"In All the Way to Bethlehem, we listen in to a drama told through many voices, all of them resounding with wonder. There is Joseph, puzzled by circumstances, daunted by responsibilities, yet resolutely determined to do the right thing; Elisabeth, Mary's much older cousin who also miraculously conceives a child; the compassionate but overburdened Innkeeper, who reluctantly tells the desperate young couple, "You cannot stay here."; the Star of Bethlehem, beaming with its own importance; and, always and eternally, Mary, herself, who, while accepting the awful divine destiny of her newborn son, must in those first tender moments with him marvel, rejoice and dream as any mother would. It is a triumphant story vividly told."

Ulisse, who was nominated for the International Bluegrass Music Association's Songwriter of the Year award, wrote or co-wrote all 11 songs on the album. Widely praised both as a country and a bluegrass artist, Ulisse is one of the most expressive vocal stylists in music today.

Also performing will be the Earl Brackin Band as they present bluegrass gospel music prepared for their upcoming concerts during the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi Russia.

The concert is sponsored in part from the generosity of The Community Foundation N.W. Georgia, the Downtown Dalton Development Authority and the Dalton Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Tickets are available online (www.woodsongsdalton.com) or from the Dalton Freight Depot gift shop. A collection box for toys will be located at the Freight Depot beginning November 1 during Dalton's Holiday Open House. The public is encouraged to donate new toys for the Providence Ministries annual Christmas Day Children's Outreach.
