24th International Bluegrass Music Awards Nominations to be Announced August 14

24th IBMA AwardsNashville, TN -- Bluegrass fans all over the globe can watch live as the final nominees for the 24th International Bluegrass Music Awards are announced on Wednesday, August 14 at 5:00 pm central; for the third year in a row, Music City Roots will broadcast the nomination press conference live at, from the Loveless Barn in Nashville, Tennessee.

Also this year, bluegrass supporters in Raleigh, North Carolina – host city for IBMA’s World of Bluegrass 2013, Sept. 24-28 – have the opportunity to watch the live August 14 nominations broadcast with fellow music fans at “viewing parties” at three venues - The Irregardless Cafe, 901 W Morgan St (reservations recommended: 919-833-8898, ext. 0), Lincoln Theatre, 126 E Cabarrus St (information: 919-821-4111) and Tir na nOg, 218 S Blount St (reservations recommended: 919-833-7795) - in downtown Raleigh.

Celebrated bluegrass artists/songwriters Sam Bush and Jim Lauderdale will host the Aug. 14 nominations press conference. The Nashville press conference at the Loveless Barn, hosted by Sam Bush and Jim Lauderdale, will be shown live, via Music City Roots’ live-stream coverage, at three locations in Raleigh, NC, host city for World of Bluegrass 2013

Subscribers to SiriusXM can also listen to the August 14 press conference live on the “Bluegrass Junction” channel, with coverage starting at 5:00 pm central.

The International Bluegrass Music Awards will take place in Raleigh Memorial Auditorium (in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts) at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, Sept. 26.

The IBMA Awards is part of the five-day World of Bluegrass 2013 event, which consists of three main parts: the IBMA Business Conference, which runs Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 24-26, the Bluegrass Music Awards on Thursday and the music festival – newly re-named Wide Open Bluegrass, presented by PNC – which takes place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27-28. This year's keynote address will be delivered by artist Noam Pikelny, whose next project on Compass Records is set for release on October 1. New this year is “The Bluegrass Ramble,” where convention attendees and local fans will be able to “ramble” around Raleigh for five nights, sampling great bluegrass music on seven stages.

IBMA – the International Bluegrass Music Association – is the professional trade organization for the global bluegrass music community. The organization’s three-year stay in Raleigh is the result of a partnership with The Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau, PineCone—The Piedmont Council of Traditional Music, the City of Raleigh and a local organizing committee.
