Deering BanjosCountry Cooperative Initiative is recognizing Deering Banjos in their Americana Music category this week. They comment saying, "In all walks of life you'll find people content to rest on past accomplishments, fame or glory. Two years ago or twenty, they remind you incessantly of what they did. Ask them what they've done lately, though, and you find yourself facing a blank stare. Then there are those who are never satisfied; who are continually perfecting and innovating, experimenting with new ideas and trying to improve on the old. So it is with the folks at Deering Banjo Company in Lemon Grove, Cal."

John Ratzenberger's "Made in America" show came by the Deering shop and this is the clip from that visit. This show was first aired in 2006 as season 3, episode 10.

Deering Banjo Company was founded in 1975 and has grown to become the largest manufacturer of American made banjos in the world. Deering is located in Spring Valley, CA and produces quality 4-string, 5-string, 6-string, and 12-string banjos. Deering is proud to have artists such as Bela Fleck, Mumford & Sons, Steve Martin, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, the Avett Brothers, Dropkick Murphys, and many more play their banjos. Keep your strings cleanThe Deering Banjo Company is the world leader in the banjo market, and their global dealer network is experiencing an increased demand from their customers for quality American-made Deering banjos. For much of the companies 38 year history, demand has been limited to a specific niche of player but Deering now finds itself in uncharted territory as it maps out plans to increase production enough to keep pace with this sudden increase in banjo popularity.

But what has led to this sudden demand? Co-founder and CEO Janet Deering suggests that quality and patriotism have played a key role. “Our customers want to buy quality instruments that will not only be a joy to play for generations, but that actually contribute to the economy and the well being of this nation. They know that they will get a far superior instrument in a Deering. The fact that it is also built by an American workforce, right here in California adds a quality that few others can compete with. This is something that really strikes a chord with us and our customers”.

Each Deering banjo is created by a seasoned group of American-based craftsmen who offer the musical instrument market an astonishing 296 years of dedicated banjo experience. In the last six months alone, Deering has increased its production workforce by 30% and is currently searching for additional skilled American-based labor with a broad variety of talent and skills. “Over the years, we have surrounded ourselves with loyal and passionate employees who care as much about the quality of the individual parts they make as our customers do about the banjo they receive," shares Janet Deering. "This is something that has helped Deering earn its undisputed reputation for quality.”
