BRRR to Dedicate Sunday Festival to Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers

Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion 2011Bristol, TN/VA -- In accordance with the April Bear Family Records release of the Bristol Sessions box set, Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion will dedicate Sunday's festival finale to the music of Jimmie Rodgers and The Carter Family. The Black Lillies' Cruz Contreras leads a band of luminary roots musicians as they pay tribute to the Bristol Sessions, which launched the careers of The Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers.

Hear the songs that made country music famous, interpreted by artists who are making their own distinct mark on the genre today. Participants include Darrell Scott, Carrie Rodriguez, Langhorne Slim, Dale Ann Bradley, Danny Barnes, Michelle Malone and a few surprise guests. It's the classic songs you know and love, like you've never heard before! The United Co. All-Star Carter Family-Jimmie Rodgers Revival happens Sunday, September 18th, on Alpha Natural Resources State Street Stage at 5:15pm.

BRRR 2011: Rebel Records Artists Showcase
The Electro-Mechanical Corporation Country Music Mural Stage at The Reunion is usually dedicated to bluegrass. It's only natural that Rebel Records, "The first record label of enduring consequence to concentrate on bluegrass music", would have a showcase there. Sunday September 18th, The Rebel Records Showcase takes over the Electro-Mechanical Corporation Country Mural Stage all day long with performances by Don Rigsby & Midnight Call, Paul Williams & The Victory Trio, Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice, and Steep Canyon Rangers.

Cornhole Tourney Registration OPEN
The Cornhole Tournament is back on Saturday, September 17th, at 11:30am during BRRR 2011. Hosted by the Young Professionals of Bristol and sponsored by Honey Do Service, more than $1,000 in cash and prizes will be given away. The competition takes place in the parking lot across from the Country Music Mural. Cornhole teams must purchase a festival ticket to play, but BRRR Cornhole Packages are available online now at a discounted rate. If you already have tickets to the festival but would like to Cornhole, you will recieve 2 $5 discount tickets for the Festival Souvenir Store to purchase BRRR merch. Want to play? Virginia Intermont College students work hard as the “official” photographers of Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion each year. Now BRRR fans can help them! VI students are top finalists in a statewide anti-violence campaign of Virginia’s governor. Votes can be cast for the “VI Against Violence” video on http://www.gosap.virginia.gov. Vote and encourage friends to vote for VI’s video before the deadline, Aug. 26. If VI wins, the video will become a public service message on television .
