The 8th annual Hazard Bluegrass Festival is scheduled for the 20th and 21st of July at the Beautiful Perry County Park in Hazard,KY. The festival was created by Gary Joseph also the founder of Wolf Creek Grass band which host the festival each year.
Although the festival has had some bigger names in the bluegrass industry to perform, it has always been the vision of the festival to have the festival made up mostly of bands that have not yet reached the level of success as some of the bands that have been fortunate enough to tour nationally. This gives some of the less recognized bands a chance to be seen by other promoters, and to perform in a nice festival setting, and hopefully this will be a stepping stone for them to get more recognition.
The festival has always been held free of charge to the public, being made possible by generous donations of local businesses in the community. The festival is also family friendly as the Perry County Park is a public park and no alcohol is allowed in the park.
Along with the great music, the festival also has great food and other vendors on site. There is also a public pool available, along with a walking track, tennis court, basket ball court, skateboard park. Camping is also available with a limited amount of electrical hookups.
