Our All-Star Picks: The Grascals, Wayne Taylor and Appaloosa, Loafer's Glory, and Bluegrass Etc. We're bringing back some favorites and proudly presenting some fantastic "first timers" to Summergrass.

The Grascals -- All the way from Nashville, Summergrass 2011 is proud to present The Grascals. Just a partial list of this band's awards include being SPBGMA's Bluegrass Band of the Year in 2010, the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Emerging Artist of the Year in 2005 plus IBMA Entertainer of the Year in both 2006 and 2007. And this year The Grascals are headlining the 2011 Summergrass lineup. These great musicians include Terry Eldredge (Guitar), Jamie Johnson (Guitar), Terry Smith (Bass), Danny Roberts (Mandolin), Kristin Scott Benson (Banjo) and Jeremy Abshire (Fiddle). Their current hit, recorded with Dolly Parton, I Am Strong can be viewed on their website at www.thegrascals.com. Check it out!

Wayne Taylor -- After over twenty years playing and traveling the world with the US Navy bluegrass band, Country Current, Wayne Taylor performed at Summergrass with Country Current shortly before he retired. He returns to Summergrass this year with his new band, Wayne Taylor & Appaloosa Wayne Taylor and Appaloosa. In dark suits and pinstripes, white shirts, black shoes and neat ties, Wayne Taylor and Appaloosa have the stage persona of a band serious in their intent to entertain and also appreciative of the opportunity. They do not fail. They are a group of innovative seasoned musicians who play predominantly original music from the bluegrass genre. The group features mandolin master Emory Lester, award winning bassist Kene Hyatt, their newest member is Lee Marcus who plays banjo, and Wayne plays guitar and sings lead vocals.

Loafer's Glory -- Summergrass 2011 is proud to introduce Loafer's Glory, a band that combines the best of old-time and bluegrass music. Tom Sauber has been in the forefront of the traditional old-time music scene for more years than he cares to admit. An accomplished fiddle and 5 string banjo player he has appeared on countless recording projects and movie sound tracs. Patrick Sauber, Tom's son, came essentially from the same musical background as his dad. He's one of those astounding multi-instrumentalists who feels just at home on the 5-string as he does on the mandolin and guitar. For over 40 years Bill Bryson has loaned his talents to some of the best bands in the business. He's not only a great bass player, but also an accomplished old time banjo player and an amazing singer/songwriter. Herb Pedersen has been involved with bands like The Dillards, The Country Gazette, Old & In The Grey, Chris Hillman with Tony & Larry Rice, Here Today, and Vern & Ray. He also played with The Foggy Mountain Boys for a time, subbing for Earl Scruggs back in the late 60s.

Bluegrass Etc -- Summergrass proudly welcomes back Bluegrass Etc. A band that is well known all over the world for their stage antics and wonderful music. They are both entertaining and masters of their respective instruments. Dennis Caplinger on banjo and fiddle, and anything else he wants to play, is joined by John Moore who plays stunning guitar and mandolin, and Bill Bryson, a fantastic and colorful bass player. Together they perform bluegrass (and etc.) music to the delight of all audiences. It's a real treat to watch these musicians perform!
