Pennsylvania Heritage Songwriting ContestSmoked Country Jam Bluegrass Announces the 5th Annual: "Pennsylvania Heritage Songwriting Contest" held in conjunction with the Smoked Country Jam Bluegrass Festival June 14th – 16th, 2011 at the Quiet Oaks Campground, near Cross Fork, PA.

The Pennsylvania Heritage Songwriting Contest (PHSC) has been created to celebrate the State of Pennsylvania, its people, its places, and its history in song. It is intended to provide a venue for amateur songwriters, to display their talent and artistry while fostering appreciation and study of Pennsylvania’s Heritage.

The contest welcomes amateur songwriters of any genre to submit songs having a Pennsylvania theme or reference. The top three finalists will be invited to perform their entry on the Main Stage at the Smoked Country Jam Bluegrass Festival and will be awarded cash prizes and full festival passes. All entrants will be required to submit an Official Entry Form. As a condition of entering, the entrant agrees to allow their submission recording or SCJ performance to be included on a Compilation CD, to be sold at SCJ events and on the SCJ website. The recording will also be submitted to the Smithsonian Folkways Library to be cataloged. For complete contest rules and Entry Form, visit

Any proceeds from the Non Profit PHSC event will be donated to the Craig A. "Bubba" Bowman Scholarship Fund. Bubba was a celebrated Clinton County musical performer lost in 2006.

The Smoked Country Jam Bluegrass Festival will take place June 14-16, 2012 at the Quite Oaks Campground on a picturesque mountain top near Cross Fork, PA.
