James King is The Bluegrass Storyteller. He is also more than that - James King is a fantastic musician and singer. Although his footprint on traditional bluegrass music isn't as big as some others, the path that he's taken has earned him many fans across the continent. The Bluegrass Storyteller is another step in this tradition. James King has released the latest project that is filled with the emotional songs that he is already known for. When one hears "Echo Mountain" or "She Took His Breath Away" they know they're hearing the soul of James King.


Although Tom T. Hall has been called 'The Storyteller', Tom says James King is The Bluegrass Storyteller. Tom T. Hall wrote some of the material on this album including "Whatever Happened to Julie" that was inspired by James King.

There is more than just the songwriters and James on this album. James has put together a band that works extremely well with his style and music. Kevin Prater performs with mandolin, guitar and tenor vocals. Ben Greene rounds out the banjo and baritone vocals while Jerry McNeely does the bass and bass vocals. Adam Haynes saws the fiddle. Put all this together and you end up with an album that goes a few more steps past excellent. This is a major milestone in the path of James King.
